Hi Chris, I am sure many Germans would find you funny. I love your videos and I bet your UA-cam stats probably show many German fans. German brains are wired in a weird way, so often Germans will hesitate and come across judgmental. Funny people who approach Germans spontaneously will have a hard time if they expect instant positive feedback. Before we laugh there's a background check going in our heads. Who is this person, is he a paid artist, is he breaking any rules, do others in the immediate surrounding approve/disapprove etc. That's why German stand-up comedians on TV will live a live of repeating the same routine for decades. The audience got used to Stefan is making jokes about relationships, Jürgen about family life and teenage kids, Klara makes fun of politicians. It's like acquiring a taste. Let's say Europapark had a reliable surprise act waiting in the spot where you tried to make ppl laugh. Then they would have laughed and maybe react sad if there was a different performer next time.

Glad you liked EP. As an Efteling annual passholder I can access EP for free once a year. We visit it sometimes on the way to summer holiday in the south of Europe. Personally I prefer Efteling over EP. The theming is more cohesive and less in your face. EP is a showcase for all the rides the Mack family can deliver. It has some very nice coasters, but also a lot of kitsch kids rides. Not to mention all the 'inspiration' they took from Disneyland.

And now imagine that: the park is family owned since 50 years. Continuing.

Hi! So nice to see you had a great time in the Efteling. Indeed we Dutch people are quite proud on 'our' park. We go there since the childhoods of our grandmas and -pas, so it's really a generation thing. Some important facts about the Efteling: - It started actually in the '30s as a public work to keep the people fed in the economic depression. It was a project to make recreation possible for locals to prevent they go to the city for 'deplorable sin things' as drinking, adultery and worse non-christian sinning. They built a sports park with surrounding gardens, a tea house and water ponds for drainage. - After WWII, they start to make a playground there and the Fairy Tale Forest. It was an entrance of fl.1,50 (€0,70, in todays money it's around €5,-) - The Forest started with 10 fairy tales: Sleeping Beauty, the gnome village, Longneck, The Chinese Nightingale (the original is replaced by the dragon, you can see the traces of the old story on the wall), the lovers fountain (the little mermaid is there now), the Donkey (the Inn is of later date), the cave of Snow White (the stepmothers castle is from later date), the 6 princes, and the Fakir - Then the expansion started with extra fairy tales and the talking bins (Holle Bolle Gijs). - The next step was the haunted castle (Spookslot). It was a quite unique one in the world. One of a kind. It is demolished 2 years ago. Sadly you missed it. There was tons of commotion in NL when it closed. That committed we are as a nation about 'our' park. - the '80s was the transformation to a real theme park. Tons of attractions were built and it grew. - The steam carroussel in the centre of the park is a real one from the turn of the 20th century. The Gavioli organ in it is one of 4 working left in the world. It's estimated as the most precious asset of the whole park. It's powered by electricity, but with cables, so the original mechanics still work! - Fata Morgana has real original stuff from Marrakesh in the attraction. - There is so much to tell more, but I cut it here. Ask and I tell you if needed. 😊

Europapark is a subsidiary of Mack Rides. I think they also use it as a test arena and showroom for customers.

What a fun park! Yea, the lack of ice in drinks can throw people off. In the states you have to remember if it's a carbonated drink from a fountain, it has to come out at 32 degrees in order to carbonate it. So it's already pretty cold. IMO Ice just waters down the drink and you get much less.
